Season review

Oxford United finished the league 1 campaign with a 2 nil victory thanks to goals from Curtis Nelson and Rob Hall. I’m really looking forward to August. This time 7 years ago we were going to Wembley to try and regain our football league status.

I am proud to support Oxford United as I feel that supporting your local team is important for the community. Since 2005/06 season I have seen massive strides of progression. In the last year with Michael Appleton as manager we have got to 2 Wembley cup finals where unfortunately we have lost to Barnsley and Coventry respectively.

We started the season with a home draw against Chesterfield. Has Ched Evans resigned for the champions Sheffield United from relegated Chesterfield? I would really like to see Conor McAleny sign for Oxford United from Everton as he looks like a special prospect. Will we see some decent signings before June? That is what MA wants as pre season starts in July. Who are United going to sign?

Simon Eastwood has been immense, starting all 62 matches. He scooped 2 trophies, The Andrew Knapton Supporters Player of the season and players’ player of the season.

My highlights are of the double over our A420 rivals. Robbie Hall’s winner after Liam Sercombe’s scuffed equaliser was sumptuous.. Was a brilliant goal. Oxford United have beaten there fiercest rivals 7 times in a row.

As they have been relegated.. Will they bounce straight back next season from league 2? I really enjoyed going to Bradford, the fans were amazing. In the close season I wouldn’t mind the U’s going for Mark Marshall and Nicky Law.

COME ON YOU YELLOWS!
