Swindon Town versus Oxford United

On the 4th Feb, Michael Appleton took his soldiers into the battlefields of the A420 derby. Welcome to the skip. It was my 3rd visit to the skip as I witnessed them beating the U’s on penalties in the Checkatrade Trophy. Earlier in that game Alex MacDonald saw red for a clumsy challenge. Eastleigh came and wiped them off there pedestal. The atmosphere for that game was electric.

Before this red hot Derby, I had arrived at the stadium feeling a touch nervous, once I got inside the stadium the nerves went away as the fans were brilliant. In the first half United found it hard to string two passes together. Dabs opened the scoring with a good long range effort which Easty couldn’t keep out. We were sloppy.

After the break Liam Sercombe scored a very scrappy equaliser, it didn’t matter as the fans were delirious! There was more delirium to come as Robbie Hall won the game with an excellent looping goal.

They probed and tried to punish us but the defence stood tall. In the dying seconds, Lawrence Vigouroux was sent off, it was later rescinded for wrongful dismissal.

We have now beaten them 7 times in a row! Can that be a modern time record? Will they stay up?

Full time. Swindon 1 Oxford United 2

Chris Maguire loved it and applauded the crowd. I love him. COME ON YOU YELLOWS!
