Oxford United vs MK Dons

In the reverse fixture earlier this season it was a drab affair that finished 0 – 0. Would the Yellows be able to spark a run to the playoffs at the end of the season? Michael Appleton started Martinez up front with the support of Chris Maguire and Robbie Hall.

The hosts started brightly and pushed the visitors back into their own half. David Martin made some decent saves to keep his team in the tie.

There were a lot of meaty challenges that I thought should have warranted a yellow card. Marvin Johnson is a marvel, the way he ties his opponent in knots is just amazing to watch. I really hope that come the end of the season we can keep hold of Chris Maguire, Marvin Johnson, Ryan Ledson, Robbie Hall and Simom Eastwood.

Half time: Oxford United 0 MK Dons 0

At the break Olly the Ox, Olivia the Ox, The mascots from Liontrust, Oxford Mail and the Oxford Icerink were involved In a race. It was fascinating to watch.

Oxford United kept George Baldock quiet all afternoon. Credit goes to Chey Dunkley and Curtis Nelson, they’ve been giants at the back in recent weeks. In the 73rd minute Appleton withdrew Martinez and dispatched Kane Hemmings. In the 88th minute from a Robbie Hall cross Hemmings heads the ball home. 1 nil Oxford. In injury time Robbie Hall is tripped in the area by Darren Potter who was shown a second yellow card and subsequently sent off. Chris Maguire’s spot kick was saved by David Martin.

Full time: Oxford United 1 Milton Keynes Don’s 0. Can we make a late surge for the playoffs?
