Oxford United vs Newcastle United 4th Round FA Cup.

On Saturday at 3pm at a sold out Grenoble Road, The hosts play Newcastle United in the 4th Round of the Emirates FA Cup. In my opinion, this game is massive as we could get to the 5th round of the FA Cup for the first time in a decade or more.

Last season Liam Sercombe and Kemar Roofe were the heroes which shocked Swansea City. Unfortunately Blackburn Rovers came and got through to the 5th round. Can we cause another cup upset?

A word on Liam Sercombe, he’s done magnificently to get back playing with huge appreciation going Andrew Proctor’s way. Will Chris Maguire be fit enough to take his place in the starting eleven? Will the new Spanish starlet in Antonio Martinez make his debut after arriving from West Ham United? Would be harsh on Ryan Taylor if the new man started but his skills and goals are exciting. He’s the Hammers top scorer in the U21s.

My team for Saturday afternoon: Simon Eastwood, Phil Edwards, Cheyenne Dunkley, Curtis Nelson, Joe Skarz, Marvin Johnson, Ryan Ledson, John Lundstram, Chris Maguire,  Rob Hall, Ryan Taylor.

On the bench: Jack Stevens, Toni Martinez, Liam Sercombe, Canice Carroll, Alex MacDonald, Kane Hemmings and Josh Ruffels.

With Newcastle United doing well at the top of the championship will Rafael Benitiez play a much changed team? The Magpies are wanting instant promotion back to the Premier League. Can the midfield duo of Lundstram and Ledson shackle Jonjoe Shelvey and Matt Ritchie?

If we start the game with a high tempo and take the game to the white and black who knows what might happen?
