Oxford United FA Cup 4th round

On the 28th January Oxford United play at home to either Newcastle United or Birmingham City. In my opinion I’d love the Yellow and Blue Army to face the famous black and white of Newcastle United. We played Birmingham City away at St Andrews earlier in the season where the U’s triumphed thanks to a Liam Sercombe strike, the fans including me went absolutely mental.

United have a habit of being giant killers, this time last year Kemar Roofe stole the show with an sumptuous brace after Liam Sercombe equalised from the penalty spot that knocked out Swansea City.

There were many highlights from the 2015/2016 season. The biggest highlight for me was when the since departed Callum O Dowda jinked his way into the penalty area and made the score.. Oxford United 3 Wycombe Wanderers 0. On that day in May the fans were loud all game and I reckon that whoever we play the Yellows will come out in force. Will it be a sell out? At the end of business this evening we had sold over 3,200 tickets, that’s half of our season ticket holders.

I would like to give a shout out to the ticket office at Oxford United. Day in day out they do a superb job answering the phones to the thousands of fans who come to home and away games, your work is hugely appreciated.

Who will the winners of the replay between Newcastle and Birmingham be? I can imagine that there will be a bit of needle if Newcastle win as in the midfield there is an ex Swindon Town player called Matt Ritchie. Would Rafa Benitez bring a strong team to respect the hosts or will he change the side? Newcastle are absolutely flying in the Championship at the moment. Form goes out of the window when it comes to FA Cup clashes.

Come On You Yellows!
