Rotherham United vs Oxford United 3rd Round FA Cup

Our balls were the last ones out of the ruby looking bag that Steven Gerrard and Ian Wright were in control of. I was really disappointed when Liverpool were picked to play Plymouth or Newport. Liverpool are my 2nd club which I have admired since John Arne Riise and Michael Owen played for them. On Sunday I’m actually travelling up to Liverpool as I have some friends who are madly in love with the Red side of the Mersey river. The atmosphere is going to be top class. Over 3,000 Argyle fans are going to paint Anfield Green. What a moment it will be for an ex Oxford United player.. Luke McCormick. I wish the young man good luck as I once noticed him waiting at Oxford station after the Greens had defeated us 3 seasons ago.

3 ex Rotherham players play for Oxford United, they include Joe Skarz who’s been on the sidelines with a niggling back injury, Ryan Taylor who scored for the U’s when we beat Macclesfield in round 2 and Chris Maguire who is the U’s leading goal scorer with 9 goals. For the hosts they are missing Jake Forster Caskey and Issy Brown who left the club earlier this week. Lee Camp and Lee Frecklington won’t feature as they are ruled out through injury. For the visitors they are without Liam Sercombe and Sam Long who are going to join in with training next week. Wes Thomas and Aaron Martin are long term absentees whilst Tyler Roberts has joined up with his parent club West Bromwich Albion.

Will Roberts return later this month? Who will Mapp play and rest? Will Johnson drop back into midfield so that Joe Skarz can return to left back or will we play our strongest eleven. We’ve got a great chance of progressing into round 4.

Our style of play is that we like to start from the back and then attack the flanks with Johnson and MacDonald getting forward to involve Chris Maguire and Robbie Hall. Phil Edwards is having a go at getting forward and he’s defending masterfully when he has to.

The FA Cup is all about having a go and trying to show passion. It would be awesome to get into round 4 within the last 2 seasons. Oxford United are being spoken about more which is rather impressive.

Come On You Yellows!
