Oxford United vs Southend United

Before the game on Tuesday night, I managed to shake hands with Phil Brown. Was that a bad omen? Oxford were unchanged from the 1 nil win versus MK Dons. In the first half the U’s made some very good chances to open the scoring however it was goalless at half time. In the second half it was all Southend. Marc Antoine Fortune found the net from a free header to open the scoring after Liam Sercombe had left the field. Could the 1st goal have been avoided if Sercombe had stayed on? Phil Brown then brought off Simon Cox and put Theo Robinson on. Was he a super sub as he added a second to leave the U’s a mountain to climb? When I heard that Theo Robinson had left Lincoln City to sign for Southend I had a feeling that he would score against us.

Full time: Oxford United 0 Southend United 2.

In football if you create chances you have to take them otherwise you get punished and the U’s did. Will we ever beat the Southend jinx?

I was surprised with Phil Brown’s colourful language, should managers have to mind there language when out of there technical area? I don’t think manager’s should be allowed to swear on the touch line as it encourages youngsters to think it’s ok.
