On Saturday Oxford lost to a braver more experienced side in Shrewsbury who aren’t a bad side at all. I remember many seasons ago, when Shrewsbury were on the brink of promotion. In the U’s side there was James Constable and Damian Batt. We were thrashed 3 nil.
In the summer we let go of the services from Johnny Mullins and Danny Hylton who are doing reasonably well at Luton Town in league 2. Patrick Hoban went to Mansfield Town who didn’t have a great result at the weekend. Kemar Roofe went to Leeds United and it seems that he and Callum O Dowds at Bristol City will be challenging for promotion to the Premier League.
What’s going wrong at United? Is it players out of form? Playing out of position or lacking confidence?
At Merstham we played MacDonald, Tyler Roberts and Kane Hemmings who all scored. Here’s my team for Coventry at the weekend:
Eastwood, Edwards, Raglan, Dunkley, Skarz, Maguire, Ledson, Sercombe/Rothwell, Hall, Roberts and Hemmings. It seems like Oxford’s management doesn’t know the best 11 or formation. Does 4-4-2 work in the higher leagues? I believe that a settled team brings confidence and stability. Come January will Michael Appleton buy any reinforcements?
Let’s hope that confidence comes and results follows. A settled team is a must.
COME ON YOU YELLOWS!
