Oxford United vs AFC Wimbledon

On Sunday United took on another promoted side from the summer in the shape of Wimbledon. Last season George Baldock came up with a special goal to break Don’s hearts as we ran out 2 – 1 winners. Unfortunately there would not be any repeat of our spectacular record against the Dons as a disastrous first half cost United 3 points.

In the lead up to the Dons 2nd goal I felt like there were a foul on Phil Edwards which led to Dons’ second goal. Oxford were all over the place in the 1st half. Liam Sercombe and John Lundstram have been mainstay in the midfield but in my opinion they both had shockers as they could only pass to the opposition.

Chris Maguire is different class, before half time I believe that the U’s should had a penalty but Darren Deadman waved play on.

3 nil down at the end of the first half and my brother and I could see that there would only be one winner. I’m hoping that this dire performance leads to the U’s manager saying that no ones place is safe. Simon Eastwood again saved us on many occasions. In the 48th minute Chris Maguire was the architect in Darius Charles putting the ball in his own net.

1 – 3 the full time score. Joe Skarz went off with a nasty looking shoulder injury in the 2nd half, I’m doubting that he’ll be fit for Oxford’s next home game against the high flying Bantams.

COME ON YOU YELLOWS! Things can only get better.
