Oxford United

It will be a week since 11,000 Oxford United fans crammed into the Kassam Stadium for the season finale. My mood tonight is abit mixed. No nerves of boiling over excitement just a bit of resentment as the season has finished. Wow, what a season. Wembley still pinballs around in my head, what a date that was.. 3rd April 2016.

Going to Meadow Lane in Nottingham was a fun day out. Coming back from 3 – 1 down to win 4 – 2. That was memorable, what a barnstorming run and finish by our local boy Callum O Dowda?! I’m going to miss the chants of “Kemar Roofe is Magic, he wears a magic hat, he could haveplayed for West Brom but he said no to that, he scores with his left foot and he scores with his right, and when we win promotion, will sing his song all night”. Have we unfortunately seen the last of Oxford’s number 4?

In the media online, I have seen some rumours that Kemar is catching the eye of Aston Villa and some of the Premier League’s big names. As yet, we don’t know how good Roofey will be at stepping up to league 1. In my opinion if I was Darryl Eales and Michael Appleton I would say to our big names, just give OUFC one more year. I don’t think that the grass is greener on the other side. Getting promoted will give us some more pennies to strengthen the squad.

Next week we will learn of the released/retained list. I would like to see Mapps retain the services of Johnny Mullins, Josh Ruffels, Danny Hylton and keep hold of Chris Maguire.

Blimey, as an Oxford United fan, we have so much to look forward to come August.

COME ON YOU YELLOWS!
