After getting back from the game, my observations are that we’ve played the most games out of all the top 4 divisions. Buchel kept his place in the United side as did Maguire and Bowery. Hylton was, in my mind harshly dropped. Yes, we had lost the last game due to a very controversial penalty but since Hylton has been back in the side, he’s banged in 3 goals. Was Appleton protecting him? Has he picked up a knock?
For Tuesday’s must win game away at Exeter I would go with this line up, Buchel, Kenny, Long, Mullins, Dunkley, Ismail, Ashby, Sercombe, o Dowda, Roofe and Hylton. In the first 10 minutes, Oxford had the lion share of possession and I was disappointed that at half time we were only 1 nil up. I haven’t seen the highlights of the game as I’m gutted with the full time result. I’m hoping it’s a Maguire goal as it will give him confidence however if it’s Roofe’s goal his goal tally for this season will be 20. What an achievement.. The United fans were calling it a poor performance but from where I was sitting the yellows had to battle the tricky conditions. There are some positives as hopefully after a defeat which decreases our point tally to Accrington to 3 points, hopefully Appleton will make some changes for Exeter as this stage of the season, every point counts.
Joe Skarz in my opinion gave the ball away far to cheaply which caused Jonjoe Kenny to back pedal to help out. Will we get our campaign back on track?
Fair play to Accrington after the restart they got 2 goals through Billy Kee and Scott Brown. John Coleman had made the players do there homework on us and stopped our attackers play. We need to change our tactics and maybe make some changes? Our squad is so small.. Are we going to add to it before it’s too late.
Come on you yellows!
